Consultation
Dr. Osayande evaluates brow position, forehead and hairline anatomy, eyelid skin, facial symmetry, medical history, and your goals. Photographs help document the relationship between the brow and upper eyelids.

Facial fillers are injectable gels, most commonly hyaluronic acid, used to restore lost volume and refine facial proportion. Signature Facial Plastic Surgery serves patients in Rockville, Bethesda, and the greater Washington, DC area.
Balance, not volume for its own sake
Facial aging is often less about lines than about structure. Volume is lost from the cheeks and temples, the jawline softens, and shadows deepen in areas that were once full. Filler restores that structure where it has been lost, and can refine proportion in areas that were never quite balanced to begin with.
Facial balancing is the practice of treating the face as a whole rather than chasing one feature, placing small amounts across several areas so that the result reads as proportion rather than product.
Filler adds volume where it is placed. It does not lift significantly loose tissue, and it is not a substitute for surgery when laxity is the primary concern. Where that is the case, your consultation will say so plainly.
Thoughtful patient selection

You may be a good candidate if you have lost volume through the midface, want more definition along the jaw or chin, or are seeking refinement in lip shape and proportion, and you are in good general health.
Filler is less suited to patients whose main concern is significant skin laxity, and it is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or over an active skin infection in the area to be treated.
A surgeon's knowledge of facial anatomy
Dr. Osayande plans filler placement the way she plans surgery: by working from the underlying structure outward, choosing products with the right firmness for each layer and each area.
Anatomy is also the core safety issue. The face is densely vascular, and knowing precisely where those vessels run is what separates a routine treatment from a serious complication. Treatment is performed in a setting equipped to manage complications promptly should they occur.
“Filler done well is invisible. People notice that you look balanced, not that you had something done.”
From consultation through follow-up
Dr. Osayande evaluates brow position, forehead and hairline anatomy, eyelid skin, facial symmetry, medical history, and your goals. Photographs help document the relationship between the brow and upper eyelids.
Your incision pattern, degree of repositioning, anesthesia plan, and whether another procedure would add meaningful benefit are selected for your anatomy—not from a standard formula.
Brow lift surgery is performed with anesthesia appropriate to the planned technique and setting. The tissues are carefully repositioned and secured while the incisions are closed with attention to scar quality.
Scheduled postoperative visits allow Dr. Osayande to monitor swelling, incision healing, brow position, and your gradual return to normal activities.
Planning your downtime
Healing varies by patient, but the following timeline offers a general framework.
Swelling and tenderness are expected, particularly in the lips. Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat.
Swelling settles noticeably and any bruising begins to fade.
Filler has integrated with the surrounding tissue, and the result reflects its final shape.
Gradual absorption occurs. Maintenance timing depends on the product used and the area treated.
Shape is visible immediately, but the settled result is best judged at about two weeks, once swelling has resolved.
Generally six to eighteen months, depending on the filler used and the area treated.
Bruising, swelling, asymmetry, palpable lumps, and, rarely, vascular occlusion requiring prompt treatment.
Considering upper-face rejuvenation?
Your consultation will determine whether the change you see comes primarily from the brow, upper eyelids, dynamic muscle activity, or a combination of factors.

Frequently asked questions
Clear answers to common questions about surgery, recovery, scars, and treatment selection.
Most hyaluronic acid fillers last six to eighteen months. Longevity depends on the product chosen, the area treated, and how much movement that area sees.
Facial balancing uses small amounts across several areas rather than large volume in one. The plan is built around your proportions, and treatment is often staged across more than one visit.
Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is one reason they are the most commonly used category.
This depends on your anatomy and your goals, and is determined at consultation. Some areas respond to half a syringe, while comprehensive balancing may be planned across several sessions.
Swelling and tenderness are common for several days, and bruising is possible. Lips in particular tend to swell more than patients expect during the first 48 hours.
Filler is a medical treatment with real risks, including rare vascular complications. Treatment by a facial plastic surgeon with detailed knowledge of facial anatomy, in a setting equipped to manage complications, is the most important safety factor.
